kick comparison

    That was interesting. Thanks for posting.

    I wasn't surprised that the Taekwondo kick was the fastest, but I was surprised by its force.

    I do disagree with the video about which kick was most effective. While the Capoeira kick may have registered the better numbers, the Thai and Taekwondo kicks are more practical in combat situations because of an easier launch and relaunch.

    The Karate and Muay Thai Kick were both practical.

    The Capoeria kick was suprisingly powerful but everything they do has an insane of amount of follow through. It is like when people hit the punch bags in the fair, it is about follow through. This machine doesn't gauge detonation on impact.

    The TKD kicks is what they are known for, all fast and powerful. Still suprisingly fast and powerful.

    Why not spinning back heel kick or even a normal back kick? I think the most devastating kick is the tornado kick.
    The spinning ads to the speed and to the momentum of the kick. Just my 2 cents.. :)
    Also the capoeira spinning kicks are very powerful:

    I'm still calling bull**** on this.

    If they got one man to do all four styles then it would be a fair test. For example... Brock will never kick as hard as Cung Le. He is twice the size but does not practice kicks...

    anyways good video. I took tae kwon do before and most of the times we just did a lot of kicks. 80% of the class we were doing all kinds of kicks.

    interesting enough but completely useless as the strikes were all done by diferent people and the conclusion doesnt make sense

    I too took up TKD for a few years as a kid. It was really difficult fighting in tournaments with those huge torso pads and limited amount of kicks. No punches to the face, only bodyshots which rarely landed hard enough to warrant a point. I could be mistaken, but the only headkick that I learned was the spinning back kick. We were taught axe kicks, but those rarely worked in tournaments. Sure the traditional headkick to the side of the face was allowed, but I was never taught how to throw that kick by an instructor. No leg kicks were allowed at my skill level at the time.

    The good ol days.. Wish I would have stuck with it and earned my Black Belt.
