I haven't heard or seen any. Althought it would be interesting to hear some more about this guy.

Did you know the saying 'that's the real mccoy' came from Kid McCoy?

He was drinking in a bar and some drunk was harassing him, McCoy told him who he was and to buzz off. The drunk laughed saying he wasn't really Kid McCoy so the Kid immediately knocked him out. As the drunk awoke a few minutes later he said 'Wow! That was the real McCoy.'

He also invented the corkscrew-punch where you twist you hand in the last minute before impact to cause cuts and gashes. I guess it doesn't work much in the gloved era but back in his day it was notorious.

Yes I read that somewhere the other day, sounds like he's had a bizzare life especially being accused of his wifes murder.

I know theres a book called the real mccoy based on him but im having trouble getting hold of a copy in england

There was a film based on his life that I remember seeing about 15 years ago. I'll look it up.

Has anybody seen any bio's of McCoy, printed in newspapers while he was still alive? I have a very short auto-bio he sent to New York World following his victory over Dan Creedon, and there was a long story of his life that he told to Lee J. Smits, following his release from prison in 1932. Anybody has anything else? I don't mean short overviews of his career that were typical, but where he wrote something himself or was interviewed by some sporting writer.

Kid McCoy is in my opinion the most underrated fighter of all-time.

Don't know about "the most", but let's say I don't understand why he's ranked so much lower than Tommy Ryan. Possibly that may improve a little bit if McGrain is gonna answer my e-mail. I sent to both versions of hotmail, with com and with co.uk.
