These two square off next Saturday as part of a tripleheader on HBO. Both are good, powerpunching, young fighters. However, I'm going with Kirkland in this fight. I believe he's tougher and stronger than Julio. He'll wear Julio down and eventually stop him. How do you guys see this fight going?

Goes the distance with Kirkland hitting the canvas.

    Kirkland by close decision though.

I think that James needs to re-asses his all out approach for this fight or he could get caught with something really big. Joel can punch, Kirkland needs to work on his boxing some. This Mike Tyson bull**** will not work for ever.

I have a feeling that Julio is good enogh to exploit his weakneses.

I'm taking Julio. He's a better boxer than Kirkland and seems to have the stronger beard.

I think Julio pulls it off, by decision.

Edit: holy cow, Julio is actually leading in the poll!

154, where they both normally fight. Kirkland's the naturally bigger guy though.

Brickhaus, I've only seen Kirkland down once and he got right back up. He also might have been slightly buzzed against Duran. Meanwhile, Julio was almost knocked out by Cosme Rivera. I'm not so sure Julio has the better chin.

I expect most people to pick Julio. However, Joel has lost twice to lefties and Kirkland is a lefty. Not only that, but Julio's skills are overrated IMO. At the same time, I believe Kirkland has underrated skills.

The odds are interesting in this one. Kirkland -300, Julio +220.

    Pretty steep number on Kirkland.

If Kirkland wants to be taken seriously, he's gotta beat Julio, who is nothing more than a gatekeeper. This one should be competitive though as Julio prefers to fight brawlers because of his struggles against boxers... Quintana, Rivera, Dzinzurik, Ishe Smith.. Julio walked away with gifts against Smith and Rivera..

There is the understatement of the day...Of course they are going to pick Julio, Latino vs African american on this site is going to the Latino fighter every time, if the fight is even remotely close in terms of talent.

Julio seem of have a tough go anytime that he is in with a fighter that is championship level...Im not sure that Kirkland is, this fight will tell us more about him...
