Sorry dude, it just didn't happen at all for huck.

    Let the catch up continue...

I really thought the two were fairly close in level. But seemed like huck fights with a little more urgency. So i figured that would nick him the close rounds. Seems i couldn't have been more wrong.

You weren't wrong... If Huck had actually fought this might have been an interesting fight.

If this was a good fight I would only be moderately annoyed with my failed prediction.

tremendous courage and heart by Huck
he did not quit like many other fighters would have done
    when
    being brutally outclassed
    but tonight
the old lion was killed by a young one
    for Marco
it's time to hang them up
and enjoy his retirement and second life

Personally I thought Briedis had quite a bit more in the tank, just didn't need it as he was well ahead on the cards

Brieids did what he had to tonight and this isn't just bitterness on my end, but I can't see him having anything to trouble Usyk or Gassiev. He's probably the clear #3 of the division h2h and accomplishment wise, but Gassiev and Usyk are a notch ahead. A fight with Lebedev would be nearly level now, since he has A LOT more left than Huck.

Well he didn't even have to change gears, but that's the point.. Had Huck actually fought that would have forced him to open up more and the fight more likely than not would have been interesting.

Tonight was his Kovalev-BHop moment, he needs to hang up the gloves and retire, because I don't have any desire to see his BHop-Smith Jr. moment.

He lost, that sucks, I was rooting for him, and he's clearly lost a step and couldn't pull the trigger, but I am please as I could be that he made the final bell.

    Interesting.

I can't see him beating Usyk, but IMHO he and Gassiev look very close in level to me right now. Gassiev probably has a lot more room for improvement though as he is much younger.

I would probably agree with that as would most but I would still like to see the fights made as I don't think he will punched out quickly. I like his skills but he wasn't troubled enough tonight for a solid judgement on gatecrashing the elite in this division.

I'm with you all the way!! I think there are some great fights in this division to be made. Lots of entertaining fights if they can make the top guys sign on the line.

Yes. And he'll always have at least a puncher's chance, he has one-shot power to KO basically anyone.

Yes. Part of me was very impressed with the overall performance but some of that was dampened by hucks apparent lack of effort but he was tagged a few times and if he felt the power and he got gun shy then it might explain how and why he couldn't or didn't do any more to trouble him.
