I agree: along with the UFC guys being told to publicly back McGregor, they are partaking in the obvious selling of the fight (by perpetuating the notion that McGregor will win, or at least is in with a chance). And the people who watch UFC and not Boxing -- along with those who don't like Mayweather for various reasons -- are absent-mindedly buying into this notion and swallowing it hook, line and sinker. Tito Ortiz is the only present or former UFC / MMA guy I know of who has publicly stated that McGregor has absolutely no chance of beating Mayweather. There are probably more: I'd like to think there are at least some current or former UFC fighters who possess at least some common sense and aren't just acting as company shills.
The UFC also(unsurprisingly) has one event that month... That's unusual for them. Usually it's 3-4 a month. They're going all out in promoting this farce. I don't think the new owners care at all about the credibility of the company or sport of MMA as whole, they're out to make as much money as possible in as short a period as possible... Starting to appreciate the Zuffa era a lot more now.
