I'm definitely have too much empathy to be a sociopath. I'm quite good at closing myself off but I do care about other people. I don't know if you've ever seen the autism triangle but communication and repetition I normally score quite highly on, then social skills I don't score high enough, hence being just south of the border. Ultimately I don't really have a label I don't think, I'm just a guy who takes things literally and who really likes patterns.
So do I, sometimes, like I said, depending on the person, I can be selective sociopath. Yeah, I know what you're talking about, I took an autism test, and I failed miserably, I scored a 21, and you had to be near 60 IIRC to be autistic and around 40 or 50 to have Asberger's, my social skills are fine but I do have a tendency to hyper fixate on patterns and rhythms.
I volunteer my Friday nights , when not traveling, and work with kids on the spectrum Some are verbal and some not but autism is tough yet man the kids are borderline geniuses
True sociopaths have no empathy though. Same way true people with autism have to have limited social skills. That's why I always knock on the door of such tests but never actually step all the way through. I don't have any personality disorders I just like patterns more than the average bear.
And numbers...This one kid can quote the damn winning lotto numbers, the day the numbers hit and payout I just wish he knew ahead of time

Yeah, I've taken a sociopath test as well. Not quite there either. I think I was about 10 below, I failed because I have too much empathy. Like you said, not quite enough, but almost. Here's my results of a personality disorder test, the second percentage is the average and is considered normal, if you're 20% over the second one, its means you're abnormal in that department. The only ones I come close to breaking the 20 barrier with is Antisocial and Narcissism. Here's my overall results.
