A moving target with maximum herky jerky head was put down twice and almost put through the floor the second time. Vlad was great, but that bolt upright style isn't the best to cope with Wilder.
Sanders, Purrity, Brewster and AJ. Wlad's chin was weak. Wilder is taller + has longer leavers than those lads and throws unorthodox combinations. I think he's a bad style matchup for any version of Wlad. Although it's not a given. Disciplined, conservative Wlad may get the job done.
Based on what? You are comparing a Wlad at the tail end of his career with Wilder. Also Wilder fights nothing like Fury and if we want to be truthful the Fury that Wilder faced was coming off a terrible period in his life and still shouldn’t have gotten a draw and the Fury that Wlad faced failed a drug test.
But only Sanders actually rushed Wlad. Sanders and Brewster had the kitchen sink thrown at them and only was able to fire back once Wlad had shot his wad and I’d put my life on it that Wilder wouldn’t be able to absorb the punishment that they did. The AJ fight was/is an anomaly as Wlad was 41 and coming off an 18months layoff and was imo winning the fight. I just don’t think unless he landed a Hail Mary how Wilder would win, Ali Bashier is on record saying Wlad dropped Wilder 5 times in sparring.
And Wilder isn’t taking one of Wlads bombs. The “IT” factor imo is I would choose to side with the guy who has legit boxing skills to set the punch up.
I never said he would. Wilder may not be a great boxer but he can hang in there with world class opposition.
He’s shown he can but the level of world class opponents he’s faced are nothing on a prime Wlad, even the version of Fury he fought, it’s just my opinion that’s all.
All we have is an opinion on this because it's a hypothetical matchup. I'd probably put my last 50 on prime Wlad tbh. However, I think it's potentially a bad matchup for him as I've said. I think a good chin is essential against Deontay, regardless of ability. Wlad was invulnerable around the whiskers.
As the old saying goes opinions are like arseholes everybody has got one. (Both of us). It would have been a good, intense fight.
Wilder would get his head boxed off. He’d be scared to attack just like against Ortiz. There’s no way he’d swarm Klitschko. But he would probably catch him with one shot at some point which is as good a chance as he’s got in any fight.
Another way to look at it is another good but old and less mobile than Wlad boxer was schooling him the other week. I honestly think if Wlad would be anywhere near what he was he’d have more chance of avoiding the one trick pony’s shot than anyone out there except Fury. I’m not saying he wouldn’t eventually be caught but he’d have more chance than most in my opinion.
No interest in seeing him in the ring ever again. He has been shot since aged 39. He will only have got slower and more shot now than he was in his last 3 fights At least he has retired and stayed retired unlike other all time greats such as Roy Jones. He trashed his legacy through fighting on for so long.
Not sure Wlads jab and grab tactics would work against Wilder. Wlad always used his height advantage well as opponents needs to get close, Wilder doesn't need to and is happy out of range just waiting. It has the makings of a dull fight to be honest.
