Sounds like torn miniscus (cartlige). If it is it's usually not that big of a deal. They'll do a scope and you should be walking within the hour. I've had 4 ops with 3 of them being ACL's and beleive me you'll hope it is a miniscus tear. Sometimes if you just rest your knee meaning no running and get on the stationary bike with no to little resistance and ice after you can get rid of the click (not sure if it repairs it but the motion is great for your knee). Basically thats what I would do and if your knee still bothers you after a couple of days go see the doc. Good Luck

ive had alot of knee problems before and the best thing i can tell you is try working out and give it a good warm up and stretch then see how it feels and just listen to your body if it hurts then stop working out and if the pain stays with you for a while like a week-2weeks then go see a doctor

Six months ago I was nervious about knee pain and clicking. Its really hard to tell unless you see a doctor. My indications hinted to ACL damage so I did not run/jump rope for a few weeks. Two weeks later I saw a specialist who told me I was fine. When I was there they thoughly looked at the knee. If you have a good knee doctor they should be able to tell you whats wrong without using an MRI machine. As people suggested on this site that clicking is normal unless you have swelling. Just remember if you here a pop then you might want to take that more seriously.

My knees click all the time.
Ermm i went to doctors and they said its normal, nothing to worry about. I also read the same thing in a magazine. But if it hurts you should get it checked out.

just go to a doctor, you have a very good chance that it is nothing serious

if it is serious, you want to know ASAP, otherwise you could be making it much worse by putting it off

you should just get it looked at. it could me more than one thing. It could be something serious with ligaments, cartilage ect or it could be something easily treatable with no surgery. I had 'runners knee' which basically some muscles were too tight, I had shitty running shoes that didnt support right, and there was a muscle imbalance with the hams being too weak compared to the quads. All I had to was get better shoes and stretch regularly and some exercises to strengthen the hams and illiodial bands.

you wont know what it is until you can get it looked at. they felt around and took some xrays and were able to diagnose me that way
