Kovalev would knock out Stevenson in a couple of rounds why would he be running from him.

Kovalev probably just thought he would have a good chance at beating Stevenson.

i think it's just Kov not wanting to talk about someone who he had problems with in the past due to running to another station to get away from him. i'm sure he's sick of him already. Kov doesn't like him. but if he wants the fight, he knows where it is.

Remember the Kov-Sillakh, Stevenson-Bellew fight? Kovalev destroyed Sillakh and called Stevenson out, yet when Max asked him if he wanted the fight his response was 'Happy holidays' lol

 

I interpreted what Kovalev said as him thinking Stevenson doesn't want to fight him and would be more likely to fight Hopkins. Which is why he said Hopkins has a chance for another belt.

 

Tonight's B-Hop would've destroyed stWEINERson, stWEINERson does not have the mental fortitude to beat B-Hop.

 

Kovalev already called Stevenson out as a POS on live TV and did everything he could to make the fight.

After tonight, SK doesn't need to chase that fight anymore. It'd be nice if it happened, but if it doesn't, it's simply another case of the lineal champ not being the best fighter in the division. Not the first time it's happened, and it won't be the last
