Just watched the fight.. Kovalev was great.. he's got a slickness, fluidity and good judgement going on when he's boxing right. I've always thought of him as a very good boxer at his best who happens to have very heavy hands and very good power. Hope he's able to get past his out of the ring troubles and continue to fight well and even improve with his new trainer.

I'm a firm believer in there being different types of power and Beterbiev is able to generate crazy brute force from punches that travel very short distances. It's a real thudding type of power like someone swinging a huge log at your head. Whereas, Kovalev has that skinny/snappy power but it's also got a real thud to it and everything he throws is just naturally snappy and heavy, whether it be a jab, a straight right or left, or hooks. Smith has a real heavy thudding type power in those big hooks of his and like Beterbiev I suspect he's very physically strong.

Reminded me of his display against Hopkins, good display of boxing skills, patient behind the jab. Shout out to McGirt too, he saw the danger with the right hand and made the simple adjustment of moving away from it.

we are now in the era of the A- version of Kovalev. I'm not sure he beats any of the top 3 players or Browne and he doesn't need to face them. he should fight the rest of the division and make some money.

Kovalev didn't show me anything different from the last fight, the difference was Alvarez's effort. He had no strategy whatsoever, and his work rate was pathetic. He didn't make Krusher fight pure and simple

Sergey Kovalev overcame adversity and proved all his haters like Max Kellerman were wrong.

It's been years since I felt this good about the outcome of a fight.

Werd knows Alvarez legitimately beat Kovalev
last time something he could not do.himself.
Kov would beat him AGAIN AND HE KNOWS IT

Beterbiev looks like something that lives in the mountains, hard looking and on his own at 175 for core strength

He never went anywhere. At his best he absolutely dominated Ward in that first fight 8rds to 4. Clearly.

He clearly was disinterested in the rematch and didn't train accordingly - very similar to Morales v. Barrera 2. As far as Erik saw it, there was just no need for a rematch.

He's now avenged the Alvarez loss in spades!

He does need to face them, he's a world champion and that's what's they're supposed to do.

He tried, but Kovalev's jab was on point this time and it really hurts. Like Golovkin it's not your ordinary jab, it's almost a power punch.

Beterbiev would make an excellent powerlifter or Grappler.
