I remember one of their first videos...it was very amateurish as I remember. I remember thinking "Kugan Cassius? Who the **** is this idiot?" Would like to dig it out some time. Fast forward to now - massive improvement, and now an integral part of life as a boxing fan. Well played to them for sticking at it. Kugan is by far the better interviewer but can't knock Helder for his efforts. Some of the interviews they get and the insight they deliver is top notch.
Kugan is doing a great job, James Helder also. The **** with Bellew interview, he has already been asked because of this ESB forum. And guess what.......Not arsed, joke thinking about it. Too many Bellew haters. Back on topic, Kugan is doing great, I watch all the time rather than sky or boxnation for interviews. Long may it continue
Ifilm doing a great job, brilliant coverage and really the only video interviews I bother to watch. I think they have kinda of tapped into a Soccer AM niche, but for boxing. I would not like to see them go mainstream, at say Sky or elsewhere as they would have to conform to their corporate culture and the interviews would probably get a bit boring. I'm not sure how much money they make out of doing what they do, but I guess it keeps them going and they are doing it for the enjoyment of working within boxing. As a reward for providing us with top notch boxing content, I would not begrudge Kugan reaping a few benefits of his new found z-lister celebrity status and laying some pipe in a few decent looking tarts. Live the z-lister life brah!
Bit of feedback, too matey if you ask me. You get to see the fighter/ promoter (Eddie Hearn) in a relaxed environment but he is not asking them the real questions. Maybe it's part of the style but when they really get informal and start taking about what TV programmes they watch its time to switch off. Plus being in Hearn's pocket doesn't help their impartiality
Ye IFL interviews get you even more hyped and involved in the fights you already care about, plus they generate greater interest and significance for fights that may have otherwise passed you by. In regards to the Bellew dressing room interview not seen it yet but it doesn't suprise me. He kept trying to hustle his way onto other IFL interviews in the build up to the Mersey Beat show. It seem like he appreciates the exposure and coming across well, as most of Kugan's interviews do tend to tease out the banterous/fun side of boxers. But at the same time trying to mug IFL off given their small stature in comparison to Sky. Didn't come across well, I've never been a fan of his anyway.
I enjoy his interviews... usually are very good one thing that is for sure is that he is pro eddie hearn and co which can influence the interviews in their favour
Kugan has deteriorated so much over the past year and is now unbearable. I just can't watch him anymore. His banter and attempts at humour fail miserably. The problem is that Kugan treats most of his subjects the same as Hearn and it doesn't work.
His "banter" is absolutely pathetic. He's going to end up getting sparked in one of these interviews. If he had that "banter" with someone like a Prime Tyson or Liston he would have woke up several hours later on a trolley in A&E.
no. in fairness he was something like that at the start....i think, guess, that was adam booth's opinion of him....and those heated interviews with booth seemed to mark a change in kugans interviewing style.....he has transformed himself into something credible while keeping a proper amount of humour and banter without ruining an interview.....and now he knows what to ask...whereas in the early days in interviews with say eddie hearn he would just ask if there were any rumors that eddie could tell him.....he has accumulated a vast knowledge of the current british boxing scene at all levels that he didnt seem to have at the start of IFL
