Thoughts on this matchup? I can't help but feel that Hurd has too many defensive holes to beat Lara. I think Hurd gets picked apart.
This content is protected 2-3 years ago, Lara would have outboxed this kid easily. But I think Lara has plateu a bit and Hurd is riding high. The size difference is noticeable, how did Hurd makes jr middle is anyone guess. I think Lara will outboxed him in early rounds, but I pick the pineapple head to pummel him late. Hurd by decision or late TKO.
Great fight for Hurd to become a breakout star. Beating Lara by stoppage will be one of the best wins in the game. Hurd is a very savvy fighter and is extremely versatile. The guy has the ability to fight at all ranges, he has a great jab and big man power. Every punch he throws hurts and that's what seperates him from the rest of the division. He doesn't have to have his feet planted to throw hard shots he can do it on the move. Hurd has a great jab, spiteful right hand and throws great uppercuts and hooks with both hands. He's also a sneaky body puncher. Defensively he is underrated especially when he wants to be hard to hit. He can move in the pocket and barely take a shot underfire like in the Galarza fight. Against Lara the game plan will be simple break his will and hurt him. Lara is too slick to outbox but he isn't too slick in a fire fight and Lara will be outgunned. Lara is also in career best form he hasn't lost a round in years, can't see how he plateaued?
This is going to be very entertaining or very awkward to watch. Lara is going to run, no doubt, but Hurd is going to chase very slowly. Can't wait to see it.
Hurd's size will be too much for Lara. If Hurd doesn't respect Lara's power then it's all over. Lara is the much better boxer but the size advantage might be too much.
Tough one to call to be honest. I'll cheer Hurd on because I'm not into Lara but I don't want to predict it just yet
Close UD for Lara. I think he'd have quite some trouble with "budd" Hurd's size and power advantages.
