As far as fastest heavyweight champs, is Larry in the top ten or top five fastest champs?

Top 10, argumentably top 5. With fastest 1-2's and and jabs and stuff like that he is probably a top 3.

He was very fast both with his hands and on his feet. His jab was of the highest order, fast and hard and very accurate. He was very mobile in the ring as well. Less flashy and poetic in his moves and more functional than was Ali.

I saw a highlight reel earlier today and I think there might be a case of Larry Holmes being in the top 3 fastest Heavyweights of all time?

Larry was really good, with that great jab, and one of the biggest fighting hearts I've ever seen.He could be hurt or dropped, but had amazing recrupative ability. When dropped hard by Shavers and Snipes , he looked done, but quickly recovered and came right back to kick ass.
The only reason I wouldn't rate Larry in the top 5 wasn't even his fault. The problem with Larrys all time status lies in the fact that he didn't really have great opponents.Norton, yeah, but Weaver , Cooney, Shavers and Snipes weren't really great challenges.Larry never ducked anyone , but he didn't have a Frazier or Foreman like Ali did, not even a Liston or Patterson.Even Norton and Shavers were a bit past it when Larry got hold of them.

Yeah. I go to his gym, and he's in there all of the time. He is the most down to earth boxer I can think of. He prefers to be called Larry, not Larry Holmes, not Mr. Holmes, not the Easton Assasin, just Larry.

He had outstanding speed, no question. His speed is the reason i think he beats a slow plodder like Liston.
