where does larry fit in your atg hw list.....iv been watching a few of his fights recently and really feel he will always be underrated by many just because of the time line involved and the fact he wasnt a fan friendly fighter....one of the best jabs around, good power, fantastic chin, and huge heart... i reckon larry could have given most fighters in a hw top ten a hard night??

I change my mind on Holmes a bit.
Sometimes I think he's the best heavyweight since Joe Louis.
But I also wonder whether he should be marked down a bit for defending the title against so many novices.

in my opinion, holmes beats frazier, of whom im a huge fan, and foreman, both guys who consistently rank higher than him...could he have given any version of ali a tussle??..

He is one of those guys who you put high H2H and for greatness. Maybe he didnt always fight the best around be he fought good opposition when he was on the decline and won.
Probably the best pure boxer the Heavyweight division ever had.

Frazier-Holmes has always been one of my hardest to call hypothetical fights. Over 12,I'd favour Larry, but Joe gets my nod over the longer route.

Frazier would knock him out i feel Holmes did go down a few times.

He beats any version of clay.

I'll always believe that prime Holmes would lose to the Ali of 1964-74. Would be very close though.

does that mean any version of the young ali ie before name change or are you , as i suspect, just being willfully disrespectful/innflamatory by calling him 'clay'

He had a long list of outstanding physical attributes as well as a great fighting heart, made a ton of title defences and won the title in one of the best heavyweight fights ever.
He also pulled through adversity a few times...

But he didn't fight all the best guys of his era; there are several great fights that could have been made that never materialised...he was never undisputed champ, despite being the best heavyweight for the majority of his reign.

I'd rate him around the top 6.

he is right up i think he beats any heavyweight from the sixties era and down he has a good powerful jab and a accurate uppercut and knows how to finish an opponent:yep:think
