If Muhammad Ali had chosen to fight Ken Norton a 4th time (and probably lost) and Leon Spinks had time to further develop his skill, would he have ever gotten a title shot, and if so, how long would it have taken?

IMO Leon was always talented, it would be his own thing, if he trains and comes always in shape and all that, he would have get his title shot IMO...

Depends on how he was brought along and if he was disciplined enough to stick to his guns on training. To answer your question, I think that its very possible given his impressive amateur career along with flashes of some of things that we actually saw, that Leon could have improved his skills to earn a legitimate title shot.

There are a lot of coulda's, woulda's and shoulda's though.

Leon was a total engima, I cannot see him ever winning a title, other than in the scenario that played out.

I reckon he would of blown a fight with Coetzee if he had not got his title shot in 78.
