So true mate, the coincidentals of their careers/lives is remarkable.
I wrote an article for an Aussie boxing mag regarding Dave Sands this month and found it hard to imagine being swept away from a 'definate win' world title shot when so close. Both guys were taken suddenly and prematurely which leaves us to argue over their greatness or fulfilled careers had they lived. With Ketchel, Darcy, Greb, Flowers and Cerdan dying young, It begs the question of whose careers would have been altered, had these fighters lived on.... So much would have been affected.

    Thanks for the kind comments.

Darcy was a beast. The most interesting aspect about him for me is the stylistic parallels with Jack Johnson and his maturity at such a young age.

No doubt there were far more great wins on the horizon for that boy. Him and Greb would have been sensational.

He seems to have been a phenomenon talent wise and was verry highly touted.

If his career progresses unhindered, then one of two things happens.

He either becomes what his proponents claim he would have been, or gets ranked among the great burn bright, burn out cases of history like McGovern, Tyson etc.

Lads i got loaned a copy of a November 1959 Boxing Illustrated last week and inside was a tremendous article by a bloke Named Johhny Brannigan entitled " Don't say Darcy died of a broken heart " track it down if you haven't already read it , its outstanding and puts to bed the "slacker myth " :deal .
