I agree, at the time this fight was in the works a few years back I think Burns would have had too much for Walsh. Didn't Walsh pull out because of a car accident though - nothing to do with Walsh or his team thinking Ricky would have stopped him...? I rate Walsh, he's a talented fighter. I don't like saying it because I like Ricky but he is on the slide and you'd have to give Walsh every chance of beating him now. That said, he needs to be more active.
I agree no way was he going to turn down a world title shot and a payday at the worry of being stopped? Ricky was probably the lightest punching lightweight at the time and Liam Walsh has never been stopped amateur or pro so it was unlikely Burns would of knocked him out.
I was in Norwich for his brothers fight a few weeks before he was meant to be fighting Ricky there was no injury at that time. He looked in terrible shape no way that fight was happening. He looked quite shocked in the corner at Ryan struggling. I think whether car accident or not he wasn't ready so blessing in disguise. He stood a small chance but would of favoured Ricky. Different story now.. I think Liam would beat any of the Super Feather world champions. Would also fancy him against Linares and Crolla at lightweight. Great fighter
