I know it might be because of the technique employed, but i'd still say Maxie. McGrain put a good one in with Midget though.
Some inapropriate mentions so far. Guys like Greb and LaMotta were not big hitters but they were punishing hitters. They could certainly hurt their opponents. While perhaps being lighter hitters I dont think any of them are particularly close to being the lightest hitters of their weight class. Billy Conn was knocking heavyweights silly. You could make a case for him being one of the harder hitting 175 pounders. Joe Calzaghe was quite a banger before his hannd problems foced him to adopt his present style.
