Diaz lands the first punch with a right hand over the top. Both guys moving slowly, a lot of feeling out. Diaz gets Reyes on the ropes and lands a blocked right. Diaz goes to the body quickly but nothing doing. Diaz lands a sharp half uppercut on but Reyes handles it. Diaz jabs Reyes into the ropes and neither guy is looking to really push. Reyes misses a winging right. Diaz with more jabs. Diaz has faster hands. Reyes POPS with a straight right TWICE and Diaz is hurting. Diaz recovers quickly and goes back to trying to establish dominance. Nothing doing there. Diaz throws pitter pats to the body of Reyes but nothing.Reyes covers up as we get more pitter pats. Pitter patter from Diaz as the round ends.

I gave that round to Reyes. His punches had conviction when he let em go and Diaz just put a lot of pitter pats together.

    10-9 Reyes.

Reyes has a good right hand! He is a slow starter but I thought Reyes took it just on those few clean right hands.

That was the slowest 1-2 in the history of the lightweight division.

So far Hopkins is pretty much running the point. Fischer gave the round to Julio Diaz, Hoppy gave it to Reyes.

Reyes just waiting for all counter punches but needs to throw more sooner or later.

Diaz cooking it up now as round 2 begins. More pitter patter as Reyes looks set to counter. Diaz throws a straight left and it lands. Diaz pops in with more pitter body punches. Diaz jabs and pushes Reyes around with it. Reyes still waiting and not throwing. Diaz with more pitter patter that doesn't land strong. Diaz throws more jabs and Reyes is watching. Watching. Watching. ...watching. Diaz landing more pitter patter. Reyes not...throwing. Diaz pitter and Reyes watching. I think Reyes has landed one punch this round. Crowd boos heavily as Reyes throws nothing. Diaz lands over the top and a nice jab as the round ends. Reyes throws ONE right hand strong as the round ends.

    1-1 tied up.

If Reyes commits to throwing more 1-2s he'll knock Diaz out. He's a sucker for it everytime.

Diaz corner tells him to ignore the crowd and fight your fight. Watch for uppercuts.

Diaz lands over the top and piles up points on the ropes as Reyes just covers. Diaz with an uppercut to the body and Reyes decides to counter with the right hand. Reyes is still trying to paint a picture here and MISSES with an uppercut as Diaz comes in a lil sloppy. Reyes lands another right hand as the action draws to another looong lull. Hopkins says Reyes has the best defense in this division.

Round 3 I gave to Diaz because he at least TRIED out there.
