Mitchell is actually a better boxer than Crolla but his lifestyle cost him. Had he lived the life he would be a world champ by now. Crolla's work rate and discipline give him that edge.
Mitchell for sure. Have to say, Linares was nothing but world class at the weekend. Fantastic performance
Definitely. He was one of the biggest waste of talents to hail from these shores. Naturally gifted with power in both hands he threw it all away with a lack of dedication to his craft. He's like the antithesis of Ricky Burns.
Mitchell gave Linares more problem but I think Linares looked far better psychically and mentally last week than he did for Mitchell. He seemed very comfortable here in the UK for a second time. Team Linares said themselves that was the best Linares has looked for a long time. So while I will say Mitchell gave Linares more trouble in patches I believe Crolla fought a better version of Linares and also Crolla didn't get dropped and stopped.
Mitchell gave Linares the harder fight, yet he got stopped and looked like he'd been run over by a train ? I've never seen the version of Mitchell who would have been a World beater had he not over indulged. Got way too much credit for beating Prescott, got stiffened by non puncher Burns, beaten senseless by Katsidis, had his face deformed by Linares, and punched into submission by crude slugger Barroso who Crolla barely broke sweat on. From where i'm sitting, Mitchell has been left wanting everytime he's gone beyond Euro level.
Corolla barely broke a sweat on? You must not have watched that fight. Barroso stuck it on him early and whilst it failed to come off as he totally gassed out he was dominating the action until then.
Barroso only fights one way, he spent most of the fight punching Crolla's arms, and once he slowed was picked off and stopped by a body shot. I don't remember Crolla having any damage, or being in any trouble.
Crolla has quickly become the most sillily hyped fighter on these boards. He shipped plenty of punishment in that fight but had the durability to push through it and punish an exhausted opponent. Fair play to him for getting the job done but it wasn't the tactical masterclass you're making out.
I never said anything of the sort. Crolla is a very fit, very durable fighter, with a typical Gallagher high guard. He knew Barroso would try to blast him out of there, Barroso is a one trick pony. Crolla didn't simply land a lucky shot on a gassed opponent, he was picking him off with the body shots and uppercut from the 5th round. Mitchell did what he always does, and tried to man it out with Barroso, he got beat up.
Mitchell for sure, although Linares looked a completely different fighter against Crolla, he looked faster in great condition and even in the final rounds was throwing punches with absolute menace. Great fighter
