Lindsey vs. Appelby

Even in defeat Lindsay could take experience from a fight with Cruz.

Let's not forget, Cruz ia old, not that big a hitter, and has 11 losses.

In Ireland, it could be winnable for Lindsay, but if it means he has to go on and fight the Luevano's and Gamboa's or this World, I'd suggest he stay with British/Euro level for now.

 

That's been the intention of Lindsay's management for at least several months now.

I'd like to see him make one defence of his title before going for it.
Even if he lost to Cruz it could be a good learning fight for him.

Bottom line for me is that Appleby fought a terrible fight tactically. At 21 and the first time you've fought in an atmosphere like that of course it's difficult not to fight fire with fire. But as British Champion, Appleby, Stevie Maguire and Tommy Gilmour should've been hammering home the discipline aspect. Appleby is a boxer he's not a guy that goes toe-to-toe. All credit to Lindsay though he fought a terrific fight and did what he had to do. Both those guys weren't going twelve tonight. I'm just disappointed at Appleby's performance. But he'll be back. And Lindsay will give Irish fans some more great nights in the future.

 

Nothing wrong with the stoppage.

A kd should have been called just before when Lindsay caught Appleby flush against the ropes and Appleby grabbed on to Lindsay's legs to stay up; then it got into centre ring and Lindsay caught Aplleby flush again, then stepped off for a second and the ref jumped in.

Appleby was all but gone.
