i think it explains a little as to why cotto was getting hurt so much and often if true, shameful act, 10 ounce gloves are small enough, hit most guys with 16's flush is even enough let alone to have plaster on your hands...
Billy H informed me that Javier Capetillo (Margs trainer) isn't training Arce for this fight. I guess it still bears close watching though...
Two things come to mind: 1/ How did they think they'd get away with this? 2/ How many times have they got away with it before? There's been a few instances in the past where tampering might have occurred. One involved Jack Dempsey (never proven and probably b/s) and another about 10 years ago where the trainer cut away the padding inside the gloves (this one resulted in permanent eye damage to the opponent and they were eventually busted).
Regardless of what may or may not yet be proven, it is perfectly reasonable and natural for people to speculate about what was removed and what impact it could have had. You have to ask why a pro0feesional team would have something in the wrapping that warrants removal and further investigation

For those who aren't aware, Trinidad got caught in an extremely similar situation before he fought Hopkins. Funnily enough much like Margarito, went out and put on an extremely poor performance and was badly beaten. Much like Marg, a fighter who relies quite heavily on his punching power. Tito IMO never really showed the same sort of power or looked the same after that fight either. Whtether it was age, the loss, the inactivity or the fact he couldn't wrap his hands that way anymore is anyones guess. Still, you have to assume it played a factor in his unbelievable punching power. Especially when his father admitted to having done it their entire careers. What really makes you wonder, is how much of this sh*t goes on at the lower levels. I mean, if this can be gotten away with it on a HBO world title fight, can you imagine the stuff that would go on in minor domestic fights. Jack Dempsy impersonaters left right and centre.
I noticed that a lot of people ragged on Mosley here for the roids thing. This is worse IMO. Its extremely dangerous for the fighters involved. Considering how thin those gloves are, taking a sustained beating with a plaster like material only just behind the padding could result in very serious injury. Disgraceful. I hope this isn't forgotten about.
I think Cotto can convincingly beat Marg in the rematch, he need only tinker a few things in his game plan to do so. Margacheato :---(
