That's surprising. I've always questioned the legitimacy of punch stats personally, I remember watching the Porter-Spence fight and being shocked at how inaccurate the stats were.

A rewatch is definitely warranted, but I definitely don't remember Loma doing anything in those rounds. He was having Lopez fight-tier inactivity

ive never seen anyone counter loma so effectively. he was getting caught on the way in over and over. i think he hurt haney more than haney hurt him, but haney put some vicious body shots on him in spots he wasnt expecting. i had it a draw, i didnt see either one establishing superiority.

The only thing punch stats are reliable for are punches thrown. Otherwise it´s an absolutely trash system and should be abolished.
It´s a waste of money and it really hurts the sport.

    Fully agree.
I was just arguing over the "Loma did nothing" part. He clearly outworked Haney, so you can´t say Loma lost because he was too passive.

Best lomachenko's weapon is his sidestep creating an angle for his right hook and space for his left hand. Haney neutralized him by sidestepping at the same time and ducking while sidestepping (important to duck while sidestepping, and important to sidestep as fast as loma, which is not easy at all). Best Haney's weapon were his bodyshots, that lomachenko could not dodge because he was too close to haney. Rinse and repeat, it was the whole fight the same. A draw until round 12th when lomachenko folded and lost the fight.

I've said it many times, I found the fight boring. Lomachenko spent 12 rounds proposing the same problem to haney once and again and again, and haney spent 12 rounds solving this problem the same way once and again and again. They both where happy with the even fight, so they decided not to take risks and to insist in problems/solutions that guaranteed them an even fight. Until round 12, which defined the fight.

That's how I saw the fight. I would have liked them to take more risks and to adjust looking for higher risk/reward strategies, but they didnt.

Lots of armpunches by both sides (specially loma's side) with the only intention to catch judges' eyes instead of hurting. Very amateur-like. I didnt like what they proposed, tbh.

Lomachenko forced the fight from the start. Are you trying to tell me by default Haney wins if Lomachenko doesn't batter him in a round.

Exactly!! I was actuallly rooting for Loma to win but he just wasn't active and consistent enough in the fight. Once he saw an opening after getiing close he would fire off a 3-4 punch combo but it was only like 2 times a round. Meanwhile Devin is stabbing him to the body using jabs and crosses and keeping the jab in his face. Loma was pressing Haney alot but was not using his jab to get in close for large portions of the fight. Peoples bias just kills me! Loma lost 7 rounds to five.

I had it even 6-6 and there are at least 7 close Rounds so no robbery but the way Moretti scored the Rounds was ridiculous

Eddy Reynoso scores the bout for Lomachenko, as did the Ring's Dougie Fischer.

I'm not suggesting it's unreasonable to conclude Haney won. Rather I think it's more reasonable or in keeping with what we watched to conclude Lomachenko did.

Punch stats actually say something different. I saw the 1st half of the fight very close and difficult to score. Loma won his rounds more clearly in the 2nd half. As I stated before, I scored it 6-6 only by giving Haney the 12th. I would not call the decision a robbery.

That you could argue a draw at best doesnt make it not a robbery. It was but clear for Loma thats why everyone thought he won.
I guess its also overall frustration to this **** happening time after time in boxing.
Real shame in big fights. Another ggg vs canelo type robbery.
