He gave away too many of the early rounds and when he finally started to get going it was already too late for him. He also lost the last round pretty big as well. No way was it a draw.
I'd say as of now he is retired, but in a year or two when someone offers him a ridiculous amount of money I will not be surprised if he comes back...
Evryones a bum right? Hating things isn't a personality, it's a disease. Loma constantly gave up height, reach, weight, power and still managed to achieve an incredibly impressive career. He will be missed by those of us who enjoy boxers and boxing. Credit to @offshoot from above... World Champion in 3 fights Two Weight World Champion in 7 fights Three Weight World Champion in 12 fights Unified 3 of the 4 belts at lightweight P4P number 1 for a while, and was in the P4P top 10 for almost a decade.
Loma was very good, but I think the Salido fight played out badly for him. He threw himself too deep. You can't constantly fight top level opponents. You need from time to time some random names.
Arguably the most talented boxer of all time, certainly one of the best. Would have had an ATG pro career with a better promoter. Top Rank failed him in various ways (for example allowed the crooked referee Cole to work vs Salido without protest, allowed the fight to happen despite Salido being 25 pounds bigger, kept him inactive for periods of many months while having him fight meaningless opposition, allowed crooked judges to work the Haney fight, etc.).
Great respect. Cosmic skills. I have the impression that at times he calculated too much and was afraid to press the gas pedal. That's how he lost the fight with Lopez, where he slept through the first part of the fight, trying more not to get hit than to win the rounds. The second part of the fight showed that when he went for what was his, the advantage was clear, but if you are so many rounds behind, it is enough to lose one moment later (the last round, where Lopez also jumped up and looked better) and the victory goes by the wayside. I don't know what it comes from. Fear of too strong a counterattack when fighting bigger guys, or maybe not enough confidence in his condition at the highest gear, which was necessary? Or maybe it's a matter of pride losing him? He was so convinced that he was better that he did too little in the ring. Besides, his assessments of these verdicts always indicated that he believed he was wronged, and I am not convinced of that. In the final analysis, Usyk proved himself better as a professional. He is probably more combative. He was able to go hard at bulls like Fury or Joshua. Take risks. Hard pressing on Fury in the first fight was a masterpiece. But you have to have balls like watermelons and count on the fact that with such a style there may be moments where you fight for survival. Regardless, hats off. There will probably be a slight dissatisfaction with his name.
what physical gifts does andre ward have? and the context of my entire post there was not hate, it was commending Andre given he lacks physical gifts to have excelled above his peers & yes AJ is a bodybuillding bum If Loma was so good he wouldn't have lost to Toefimo by having zero activity for 6 rounds. Pathetic fight plan and went in there with an unjust fear of Teo's power.
Got robbed against Haney because they wanted to build Haney as the next Mayweather. Politics probably killed his love for the game. Plus he is also at that age - late 30s - where your legs REALLY slow down and you don't have that quick and fluid movement anymore. Usyk better watch out for the same thing too.
Good fighter but a career case of almost living up to your hype then getting beaten by old arse and green arse fighters who never were special. If ur as good as the best you've beaten you're also as bad as the fighters who beat you and Salido, Fimo and Haney are not very good names to lose to with a 500-1 (fakely inflated) record.
Not as good as his fanbase wanted him to be but still a great fighter and easy HoF choice. Wish he had campaigned at the lower weights longer but I understand why he came up.
Lopez won 1-6 and 12 IMO. I’ve seen the images of the shoulder surgery he had immediately after and it was grim.
I don't know. He lost two fights for sure....I don't care how many times Salido hit him low. Loma should have retaliated. Lopez beat him fair and square. Haney was close and he didn't step up when he needed to. I'm not impresses with these "jumped weight classes" at the lower divisions. 4 or 5 pounds between titles? He started pro so late that he had too few fights IMO. What's the lowest a guy can have and still get into the HOF? 20? 15? He should get voted in as an amateur fir sure. One of the best. But pro? It's debatable IMO. Few fights, too many losses that he shouldn't have. I guess that's my beef. If he was so astounding he should have easily defeated Salido, Lopez and Haney who are NOT HOF worthy by any definition.
When you accomplish something, you tend to feel good about yourself. Those who don't normally talk about how much they don't like those that do. You don't know the man to call him or Canelo, or Crawford arrogant. You only know what's reported. What he did see of Loma is that he put his career on hold to help out his country. Most celebrities simply just getting on social media and say they are "supporting the troops" and feel they are doing more than enough. I'll never understand spending even an ounce of energy to project hatred on an individual that doesn't even know you exist. It's weird. That's like you announcing that you're retiring from working at Jimmy John's and I respond with "good riddance" you idiotic cockeyed fat chick..... And I don't even know if you are even cockeyed.....lol. Have fun. Life is too short for hatred.
