WBC declares Soto-Lorenzo a no-contest

The WBC has ruled that their 130lb interim title will not go to Francisco Lorenzo, even though Lorenzo received a controversial disqualification win over Humberto Soto in a WBC title fight on Saturday night in Las Vegas. WBC President Jose Sulaiman today announced that the WBC sees the fight as a "no contest" and Lorenzo not be getting the belt despite being declared the winner. Sulaiman called the DQ "one of the greatest injustices I've seen in a long time." The official Fight Fax records, however, will reflect the result as a disqualification win for Lorenzo, barring an unlikely change made by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Wouldn't it be something if the WBC overruled the NSAC and declared Soto the champion? I know it would cause absolute chaos and probably legal action but damn it would be nice. Fairy Tales are nice.

It's a good thing Lorenzo isn't Puerto Rican. Cortez would really be in the **** then.

Well, they might be legally ****ed if they don't hand the title over. If the NSAC doesn't switch it to a no contest or a TKO win, they WILL lose.

I didn't see it happen live so I came on here to see the storm of Cortez comments wondering what had taken place. When I finally watched it I wasn't surprised. Cortez always wanted to be a part of the show. Just the fact that he has his own slogan was enough to illustrate that.

I like Kenny Bayless alot. I actually remember when he was just a corner official. I always recognized him during fights he refereed but couldn't place him. It wasn't until I read an interview with him in a magazine that I found out that he had worked in Vegas for years before becoming a ref. Weeks is good and he's bilingual which never hurts.
