The Phantom was able to beat Baer as well as get the better of Carnera in the early rounds before roughhousing came into play. Could Tommy have beaten Deontay?

Yes. Loughran had an amazing jab and was very good at turning larger opponents, which is why he was able to beat guys like Baer, Campolo, Gross, Schaaf, and Impelleriere despite giving up a lot of size.

Wilder’s size and big right hand wouldn’t be anything new to Loughran.

Maybe? Could he? Yes but would he? I don’t think so.

Yes, Tommy Loughran could have, and, most times, I think he would have defeated Deontay Wilder.
