I havent seen the whole fight only highlights but from what I have seen I thought Walcott should have gotten the decision.

What do you guys think ?

From what I have heard, Louis actually apologized to Walcott after the decision was read.

Louis's apology was supposedly more about his performance than the decision.

My opinion is this; none of us have seen the fight.

Two thirds of ringside reporters scored it for Walcott, one third for Louis.

Two thirds of the judges scored it for Louis, one third for Walcott.

Working from the highlights I have, I don't see any serious advantage for either man under the scoring system of the time.

Not enough to toss out the decision. It stands.

  4. Theo has alot of pace, but his punch-resistance is questionable.

    Agreed.

Walcott obviously won the two rounds with knockdowns, but everything else looks like it could be scored 0-0. Walcott is backing away and showboating, while Louis presses and often misses. Walcott did well in making Louis look bad (which possibly played a role in convincing many people that he won), but he doesn't look to me like he's doing enough actual scoring of his own to actually deserve the win.

Theo Walcott, a footballer. Think he was pissed last night judging by his posts on the British forum

I always felt that the finishing combo Louis dropped on Walcott was overated. He didn't really turn those punches over and you can see the torque he was generating with his hips was slightly behind the punches themselves in the film. But if the Bomber himself rated it as his best maybe I should try to re-appraise it.

The finishing combo Joe Louis put on Walcott in the rematch I liken to Dempsey's combo that decked Tunney.
Both great fighters a long way past their primes showing a brief and deadly flash of their former greatness.

It's got to be said though, Dempsey's were technically perfect, Louis's were not.

Epic KO. I like Mann. That left hook is ****ing horrible.

Louis only said the combo was "one of his best"

There are far too many to mention. Joe Louis in the 1930s and early 40s was awesome.

alot of Louis's KOs are amazing to watch my favrouite LOis combo is the triple left hook on Max Baer but there is something awe inspiring about watching the black and white footage of Joe Louis. Something hauntingly beautiful.

He's the daddy. So many of his Ko's would be the #1 highlihgt reel for other celebrated punchers, but for Louis, it's just another day at the office.
