    Sharkey was finished he had retired and come back for a pay day.
    Wins over M Baer ,and Schmeling are very impressive.

    He was but it was still a bold fight to take coming straight off a devastating loss to Schmeling.

    I'm not going to disagree with you with any ferocity here. What I will say is that i have the same highlights as you and i'm not ready to kick the Louis claim out on that based upon these. 1-3 is the split in favour of the ringside writers in favour of Walcott - the opposite is true of the judges. I understand what you are saying but I can't hand it to Walcott. I suspend it, kind off, and hand the duel to Louis based on the second fight.

    Always felt Walcott was the best fighter he beat followed by Schmeling.
