Does not possess the hand speed, the power or the technical ability to beat any of the top 3 guys (mundine, Kess or JC) in the SMW division. Against Bika he looked slow, didn't appear to be carrying any sort of power, and put new meaning to the word one dimensional. I have watched his prior fights and haven't been caught up in the hype, and am now convinced that this guy is very over rated. What was your opinion on his performance vs Bika, and how do you think he will compete against the top guys from here on in?

Slow in comparison to the top 3 guys YES. Slow in general no.

I am not sure how good Bute really is but it would be wrong to call him "hyped", just because he's got some fans on ESB who post some threads about him...He is more than a prospect at SMW now. This is good news. The division is richer now than it was before Bute. Bute has arrived. We'll see how far he can go.

No way he beats any of the top guys. He won't beat Kessler now way. Kessler is faster, stronger and better. He won't beat Mundine, because Mundine is faster and more skilled and he won't beat JC for all of the reasons above.

I was unimpressed also... I have no worries about a potential Mundine match up, where-as before hand i wasn't so sure...

The only thing working his way is that Bika is a hard man to control and it's never easy to look good against him.

He's got potential, but needs to make the absolute most of it!

Kessler does have better handspeed, he's just a different type of fighter. He has better handspeed and better accuracy, Kessler's best combinations are quicker than Bute's in the long run and they have way more on them.

I think Bute is very well rounded as a fighter, I like a fighter than can fight inside and out and can vary the offence to the body and head, he just needs to patch up his defence a bit. As for his hands they are quick, perhaps just a fraction slower than Kesslers.

I wasnt impressed by this kid....I think that he has alot of unwarrented hype surrounding him. The only thing that impressed me was the adjustment he made, because over the first 4 or 5 rounds he was getting his ass kicked, and he ate alot of left hooks, ala Vargas, and we see where things ended for Vargas.

You may be right down the stretch, but right now this is a pretty strong statement almost bordering to hugging I'm afraid.;)

Well, given that he's only 27, I think he still has time to catch-up with the top tier

Im very impressed by Bute and can understand why the french-canadians/romanians are excited about this guy.
can he dominate the division? time will tell , but at the moment i think hes a clear 4th in the division behind Kess , calzaghe and mundine.
I do like the path his handlers are following though , his opponents are gradually building his resume and confidence at the right pace.

I also thought he looked a bit slow, also looked like he was pushing alot of punches instead of snapping them out.
