Luisito Espinosa Discussion

How do you people think Espinosa would have fared against the comp in the featherweight and superfeatherweight divisions if he was still in his prime in 2000's? Against Hernandez, Chavez, In Jin Chi, Morales, Barrera, etc.?

 

Him vs Chi would have been a war.

Morales and MAB would have dealt with him..but on his best night he is no easy beat.

 

there is no way espinosa would engage chi in a slugfest...he would just box his way to a decision similar to what he showed in the soto fight

 

A guy like Chi doesnt always give you that luxury...to suggest Espinosa would just easily box his way to victory is selling Chi short.

I just dont see Espinosa being comfortable with constantly giving ground..He would have to stand and trade at some point, and then we would see some fireworks. He would do better work from the outside but thats not to say is going put a clinic on Chi. He really wasnt like that, he was a bit slow and no defensive genius.

I still thinks he wins quite clearly and he would land some series leather on Chi, those winging shots would have the crowd cheering away.
But it would be an entertaining tussle.

 

He was too inconsistent to be put in the same league as Tzysu. ATG's don't get blasted out in 2 by Alejandro Gonzalez. Several good wins but no way in Tzsyu's league.

 

being the wbc featherweight champ for 3 years with 7 title defense is consistent enough in my book considering he was almost 32 years old when soto beat him.

 

The original comparison in this thread was to Tszyu. Tszyu held a title (and sometimes multiple titles) for the better part of 10 years, had twice as many title defense as Espinosa, and beat better competition. No comparison.
