MAB vs Hamed

Marquez ducked Nas and I doubt it was the WBO's doing ... Marquez rejected what would be the biggest payday to that point of his career against Nas. Nas was fighting higher ranked guys than Marquez. Paul Ingle, Cesar Soto, Vuyani Bungu were all ranked higher than JMM when Nas beat them.

Nas was stripped from the WBO title because he choose to fight Barrera instead of their mandatory, because like you said Barrera was fighting in a lower division than Nas. Barrera vs Nas was being discussed for a while (as was Morales vs Nas) and Barrera never came to the table. They were being given offers for a while but they never accepted them. Barrera was only a single weight division lower.

Dude gets a **** load of hate for a single loss ... he basically became undisputed featherweight champ and fought top ranked guys for years ... he was a champion for 5 years or something ... he already had severe hand problems before the Barrera fight and was looking less than flawless in his victories leading up to that fight ...

 

I loved seeing Hamed lose. It was also funny that Hamed completely quit boxing after that one loss.

There are two big misconceptions about this fight:

1. The first is that Barrera dominated and pitched a near shutout

2. It caused Hamed to quit boxing. (Hamed fought again, and won.)

Ridiculously short time to prepare???

Nas offered Marquez the most money he'd ever make to fight him in August of 2000 ... and Marquez fought Daniel Jiménez in August of 2000

Nas fought Augie Sanchez (would've been JMM if he didn't duck) on 8/19/2000 and JMM fought Jimenez on 8/27/2000 ... a grand total of 8 days apart. I'd hardly call an 8 day difference a "ridiculously short period of time." Marquez would have 3 full months to prepare, more than enough.

JMM ducked Nas and Barrera and Morales wanted no part of him either until he was vulnerable and was clearly slipping.

Nas was playing golf and pool instead of training for Barrera ... and his training consisted of watching Barrera get handled by Junior Jones

It ws an act of contempt that I thoroughly enjoyed and apprecitated.

 

No love for Hamed mate ? You have to admit he was in some ****in exciting fights, and mad power.

 

Naz was a typical bully -- MAB stood up to him, exposed him with basic fundamentals ... and Nazzy-boy took his ball and went home.

Cut it anyway you want, but MAB retired him. Yes, he took one more "farewell" fight against a safe opponent (more than a year later) but it was just a ploy to try to make it look like Barrera didn't run him completely out of the sport -- which is what he did.

Naz-maniacs can whine all they want about someone from a lighter weight class "ducking" the Little Prince, but what about the rematch? Nazty ducked it, along with every other offer that came his way after he was completely undressed by some basic footwork and sharp 1-2 combos.

Look carefully at the Princess' record and you can see how carefully handled he was, how often his management looked for matches where he had the edge, rather than putting him head-to-head against the best out there.

This was a come-and-catch-your-whuppin' fight, and when Naz caught his he ran home like a little ***** and locked himself in his room and hid under the bed.

 

It's funny how people see this fight an conclude that Naz wasn't any good. Before the fight he had put together a pretty good resume. Barrera was just better, and had the game plan to beat him. Rough him up than out box him.

 

So Naz was shot at 27??? Uck off Noob. :twisted:
