Since when does whether he complains or not show it was a good stoppage?

Maybe Judah should have been allowed to carry on against Tzsyu because he complained..

Boxers not complaining is usually a very good sign of a good stoppage. I don't think I need to explain why the Judah example isn't really applicable....

My point is that everyone's different. Some are vocal after, some aren't. If every fight was stopped on the first effective punch landed like that boxing would be terrible.

Oh, its not bulletproof but its the first thing I look for when a fight is stopped, the fighters immediate reaction.

Marosi had only been kept up by the ropes after a punch. That should be ruled a knockdown. He should be given a count. If he was not fit to continue by the end of the count then the ref should have waived it off. Everything you said is irrelevant.

yeah there should be atleast a standing count that 10 seconds can tell you a lot! not just waved off cos someone wobbled onto the ropes.

The argument against standing 8s is that they can let the fighter get themselves together enough to just take more punishment where leaving the fight go on (which didn't happen last night) doesn't.

yeah but that standing count should be enough to tell the ref whether to let it go on or not, wobbly legs twitching face, lack of response, can all be checked withing a few seconds?

The problem is if the fighter is shaky at say 4 seconds in the count, pulls himself together by 8, is allowed to go on and then starts taking another battering because he was given the break in the first place.

There are loads of different scenarios how the situation could pan out but that is the one that is used against standing 8 counts from a safety point of view.

and yet we've seen wobbly fighters gettin knocked down and being allowed to carry on and theyve been in a far worse state than marosi was last night.

    Just presenting the argument...;-)

Take last night, early stoppage IMHO but giving Marosi a standing 8 would have probably have led to him getting more punishment than if the ref had just left it alone and let Enzo land a few more punches for a more clear cut stoppage.

I thought the stoppage was early but I guess when the main debate centers around HOW Marosi should have been stopped then its hard to complain too much IMHO.
