mainstream fame of heavyweights

    I know it is said that the heavyweight champion of boxing was as famous a name as anybody out there, definitely someone who the whole nation was familiar with. When did that stop being the case? Was Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis... the last mainstream heavyweight champ? Or do those names, in terms of name recognition amongst the masses, not even compare to Ali and the heavyweight champs of back in the day?
