http://sport.stv.tv/boxing/187066-maloney-criticises-hayes-absence/ "If I was still representing David, being a young fighter I would have cashed in a bit quicker and made him busier." "He's a breath of fresh air for the heavyweight division and the media like him, but sometimes when you stay out of sight you get forgotten a bit. You can't fault what he's done. No-one expected him to win the world heavyweight title and he's made one defence. Three fights a year is good for a heavyweight. That's what we aimed for with Lennox Lewis." "But it's also about staying in the public eye. If I was David I'd be banging the drum and making sure I was in the papers for the right reasons. I'm not saying he's lazy, but a champion has to be visible and talk up the sport."
have to agree with everything he said. If Haye stick to his line about retiring before he is 31 (used to be 30) he will only have 3 fights left max.
Totally agree with Maloney. I wish Haye was more active. His actions (or lack of) lately have really turned me off him a bit and I get the impression I'm not the only one.
yep. unless its Adameck next he goes in the same boat as Khan. Protected champion with no intrest in unifying.`
I think Maloney is quite fair to be honest, with the thread title, i was expecting something quite bitter. Haye is a clever man, and there will be a reason for the silence. I like Maloney, he is like a little goblin, but a friendly one, not a dirty goblin like in lord of the rings.
i know vlad is tied up with povetkin but whats going on with old man vitali? is he fighting valuev or what? i think hayes got a better chance of beating vitali than his younger brother who seems to be more and more unhitable with every fight. adamek, chagaev, harrison, and valuev rematch all do nothing for me. tua vs haye would be interesting though.
that's all talk imo, considering I've heard him say that if he wins the undisputed title then he intends to defend it a few times. Haye is the master of deception at times, I remember after the Mormeck fight he stated he could no longer make Cruiserweight which obviously Enzo and Warren picked up on. Haye came in for that fight 2lbs under the limit and lost the weight comfortable and he obliterates Enzo with less than 20 punches.
yeh i also think there may have been mind games from Haye and Booth in making Enzo think it was all perfect all along.
