WTF ? Spina kicking Peter's ass in the first round? Manfredo won most of the round, then in the last 10 seconds Spina tried to steal it with a late flurry, and most of his shot were blocked. The judges scored the first round: 10-9 Manfredo, 10-10 and 10-9 Spina. It was a very close round and could have gone either way. Spina took a beating in the second and was finally brutally KOed in the third. No excuses for Spina's loss. Manfredo was clearly the better fighter and would easily stop him again like he did against Pemberton and McCrary.
Watch it again...Spina was the man in round 1...he still got his ass kicked in the end though. Breaking his hand early in round 2, he did almost nothing. Spina is in the proccess of getting his game together, hopefully he can rematch Peter, who was the better man that night.
I watched the first round several times and it was exactly how I described. And so the judges scored.
I don't know what you are trying to prove here, express any opinion you like...but please don't lie about how the 1st round was scored. Judges Clark Sammartino and Steve Epstein both gave the 1st round to Spina. Let's hope Spina keeps improving and they can fight again one day.:good
edwin looked good he was killing the guy with body shot but i have to say upshaw is one tough sob i give him alot of respect after seeing how he could take a punch good fight
Sorry, but if 2 judges scored for Spina and 1 judge scored for Manfredo it means it was a very close round.
That's a whole other story than what you said before...anyways, Joey won the round but got his ass handed to him in the end. We'll see if they can both hang around long enough to fight again.
Manfredo won a tentative first round for the most part, but Spina hit him with a solid left that drove him back into the corner and flurried at the end of the round to make it close. Personally, I would give it to Manfredo. And it's unlikely that Spina would have done any better had his hand held up. He is a wide puncher with little defense, his main chance in the first place was if his chin held up long enough to land a bomb on Manfredo while getting nailed himself, and it didn't happen. Until Joey improves his defense in particular, the result would be the same in a rematch.

nah man, round 1 was kind of back and forth from what i remember. then spina got annihalated the next 2.
I agree. I personally had Manfredo winning the first round and I think Spina would have been brutally KOed even with his hand help up.
