Cleverly, Hopkins and Pascal were all top ten when Kovalev beat them.

If you think so, why not make a thread about it,instead of sidetracking mine?

    Sonny Banks:
    18-7 career record
    fought at 190lb
    knocked down Muhammad Ali.

When are we going to stop treating Rocky and Louis' knockdowns as some kind of esoteric epiphany of their weakness?

Kovalev is better than the overwhelming majority are willing to give him credit for.
Kovalev's power would keep even Marciano a little more tentative.
One will go out on his shield, I think Kovalev would lose by KO, but I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Kovalev boxes and moves, and opportunistically lands a KO himself.
I give Kovalev a small but live 30% chance.

How long would he last with Rocky? A guy sparked by a MW up against one of the hardest hitting HW champions of all time.

    I agree.

And Walcott and Moore were seasoned ATG counter punchers.

We shouldn't hold Ali's knockdowns against him. And we shouldn't hold Rockys knockdowns against him.
