    Well that's stupid.

    1) You don't have Marciano's genetics.
    2) His methods might be backwards.
    3) You are running, he was fighting. You don't use the same energy systems.

Now Ike, that Ike of the Tua fight, was probably the fittest HW of our times. You just don't see that!

That's what guys below MW with a VERY HIGH work rate are doing!

True, but I think it just adds to his legend.

You know, he's 49-0, holds a record that is spectacular for that division, finishes his already savage training day with a TEN MILE walk.

10 miles is a lot to walk, never mind after a brutal day of training. And to do it every day?

Have any of you guys actually trained HARD? It WIPES YOU OUT.

Unlimited stamina? He went 15rds once, against an older fighter with nearly a hundred fights on his clock.

Marciano wasn't fighting at a faster pace than the two men he was fighting, both of whom were older than him.One by 7 years.

@ mcvey - I take it you're also of the opinion that his work rate in both training/non training is overrated?

Rockys training regime and dedication to training is very well known and understood. He is not going to have trouble with his stamina.

I believe he trained religiously, maybe with as great a diligence and any fighter ever did,if he hadn't he would not have been the fighter he was. Yes I do believe his workrate is somewhat overated in actual fights, for example I dont think it compares to Frazier's in FOTC or the already mentioned Ike v Tua match.Marciano is surrounded by hyperbole, and now he has achieved almost mythical status,I think he would embarrassed by it if he were alive today.

Great shout on Joe in FOTC. He must have been exhausted for a week afterwards.

Yeah, I hear you on the embarrassment part.

Frazier was in the hospital quite a while after this bout. I have read by those close to Joe that he almost did not make it. Frazier fought a great left hookers fight that night.

My impression is that Marciano threw loads of punches in the first Ezzard Charles fight.
I haven't counted but he seemed to be throwing plenty.

One judge gave it 8-6-1 to Rocky so I think we can take ,Charles was throwing few too!

It would prove that the road work component of his training regime was possible, which some people here have questioned over the years.

But as heerko koois has said, it would be a Ricky Hatton sized guy doing it.
