    Juan Manuel Lopez:
    Puerto Rican
    Southpaw
    5'7''
    22-0(20 kos)

    Abner Mares:
    Mexican
    Orthodox
    5'5''
    16-0(10 kos)

Both are very good boxers and neither has reached his prime. I know it's a little premature, especially considering the guys that Juanma has in front of him right now: Izzy and Rafa. But this matchup would be crazy down the road. It could reignite the MEX vs PR rivalry.

What do you think? Who wins?

JML stops him. Ponce would stop him as well. But these are different weight classes.

Juanma has a lot more potential than Mares anyways, who I think will get beaten by a solid B level pressure fighter when he steps up. Mares has very good technique and overall solid skills/abilities, but he's a light puncher with a leaky defense and he has problems dealing with pressure. I suspect he has a shaky chin as well.

I definitely see where you're coming from, but I still think Mares has a good chance. His timing and technique are great, and with time will get even better. His power and chin could be questioned, but only time will tell. Lopez is a beast but I would still take Izzy or Rafa over him.

Lopez has progressed a lot quicker and is operating at a higher level at the moment so I would pick JuanMa by TKO.
