Don't know if this has been posted before so apologies in advance if it has but i just read on ESPN that Abner Mares has torn a retina in training and is now not fighting on the Hopkins-Pavlik undercard. How bad is a torn retina these days? I know in the old days it could end a career but i'm presuming its fixable now. Does anyone have any idea how long he may be out for?
****. I hope not. Its bad enough when any athlete has to retire early due to injury but its even worse if a young, talented pro with his entire career ahead of him has to. Hope hes going to be ok.
