I just got to watch the fight and i cant believe how ponderous tony looked, maybe it was just me but his punches looked unbelievably slow there was just no snap in them, taking nothing away from cottos defensive work which was brilliant. Margarito's footwork seemed poor to me, he just shuffled round the ring but cotto in comparison was always on the move. I dont think margarito has ever been the best defensively and nothing was different tonight, he took way too many shots and with his eye in such poor condition these days you'd think he'd have worked on it more before hand. So i just wondered what other people thought of his performance ? Again taking nothing away from Cotto i think he showed just how good he is tonight

I always felt a lot depended on how much he had left. He's been way south of his best since the first Cotto fight and it'll only get worse.Doubt he'll even get a licence in the States again.Badly shot I'm afraid.

You need to watch more of his fights. He has always been a wild, slow, one-dimensional plodder.

Margarito looked like he always does. He was never skilled. He was a primitive, slow of foot, slow of hand, looping puncher, with not much coordination. Margarito gets by on his chin, heart and toughness. Those don't mean much though, if you don't have the foot coordination, or athletic ability to properly cut off the ring.

I agree that margarito has never been silky but he just looked terrible in this fight, hopefully the above posters right and he doesnt get another licence because i dont think he'd retire on his own.
