This is a fighter on the rise.

He completely boxed the face off of Leonard Garcia at WEC 51. I almost want to say his stand-up looked good by pro boxing standards, which is praise very few mixed martial artists ever get out of me (Noons, Penn, Silva on a good night, and precious few others to the point where I can't even think of any more right now :yep).

I like Leo G, but scored the bout a clear 30-27 for Hominick (and he was on the cusp of 10-8 rounds in both the 2nd and 3rd). The only round you could even make an argument for on behalf of the Bad Boy is the first, and you'd have to be Johnnie Cochran.

Rematches with FOTY dance partner Jabouin and/or the high-profile Garcia (even though he proved himself the better man than both IMO) and then a title shot in early 2011 would have him lined right up for stardom in the sport, which is quite impressive considering that when 2010 began he was looking at a layoff of a year and a half and an underwhelming 15-8 record with most of his best opponents making him tap out.

Is anybody else growing to be a big fan of this intrepid stand-up virtuoso?

I am a big fan, and I knew that was how the fight with Garcia would play out. I can't believe one of the judges gave the fight to Leonard. That's just absurd.

Josh Grispi probably deserves the next shot at Aldo if he manages to get by Koch, but I would love to see Hominick get a shot next year.
