His chin is about average. Can take some punishment and most good powershots, but a really great punch can put his ass on the canvas. No different than any other fighter.... I rate it at 7

I'd give it an 8. When going on the offensive, he tends to throw it all out there, which makes for a slight balance problem (something he never has moving backwards, ever.) That explains a lot of his knockdowns.

He's taken some hard shots over the years which he's withstood or gotten up from; I think that eating the overhand left from Pacquiao in the tenth round of their 2nd fight (practically the same one that flattened Hatton) without going down or losing his wits, and eating a left hook from an emotionally driven Katsidis at close quarters square on the chin, and then getting up before 6, along with eating nothing but right hands from a deadly accurate welterweight Mayweather Jr. in the later rounds, means he's got a decent chin. I think it's good enough to be at least an 8.

I'd also like to add that the counter left hook that Katsidis dropped him with was the most I've ever seen JMM hurt. That was one hell of a shot! Katsidis came up from a crouch and got full leverage on that punch. Probably the hardest shot Marquez has ever taken. Surving that knockdown probably had less to do with his chin and more to do with his skills and undeniable heart.

Decent. He gets dropped and hurt a lot, but recovers very well. It depends on your definition of a chin.

I would guess not many fighters have been down as many times without being stopped.......

Big heart and a decent beard!!

Decent chin and great recuperative powers.

Not that hard to drop but almost impossible to keep him down.

Again, it depends on what you consider " having a chin means"
