I seriously think Sergio would come unstuck with this guy. Besides his power, Golovkin has excellent footwork, balance and timing of punches and obviously huge power and he is able to properly cut the ring off against counter punchers like Martinez. Golovkin has a very clever boxing brain.
We'll see how Golovkin does when he steps up, but even now, I think he's a threat to Martinez based on his timing and power.
Golovkin is well schooled, while Sergio has the athletic physique, but don't be fooled he has a good boxing brain too. I honestly think this one can go either way, maybe even a draw or FOTY type, but if I really had to pick right now Sergio would win. Jab to body, right hooks, straight lefts, he throws them all. He's too fast and maybe almost equally strong as GGG.
Pavlik wasn't too slow for Martinez, he won almost all the middle rounds walking Martinez down and picking off his shots until he clearly gassed at the 9th round.
Sounds like YDKSAB brah atschatschPavlik won 3 rds + an off-balance KD while Martinez did his usual mid-fight break. Once Martinez stepped back on the gas and CUT him, the fight was over. Pavlik just got his AZZ whooped over the 2nd half of the fight like all Martinez's opponents do.
