People are really delusional about this fight - it is a MISMATCH. Peter is a young, up and coming powerpuncher, facing a glass jawed veteran who's grabbed some glory late in his career.

    Cooney-Norton, anyone????:yep

Neither guy is scared - they have both been in the ring with murderous punchers. But one thing is for sure - Samuel Peter is looking FAT. His face looks like he's put on 30 pounds.

Young don't mean skilled. Being a powerpuncher don't mean you can land your power.

Yes, Maskaev has grabbed glory here recently for a reason; because he's ON HIS GAME, these days.

And that aspect, that that caused him to grab glory, is what will also see him through to a win over Peter, regardless of how young and much of a powerpuncher that he is.

    :good
    Maskaev by decision.

Peter looks really heavy and seems to have training issues. Remember he was in great shape against Wlad at 243 which allowed him to survive. 257 for Toney I and 249 for Toney II. When people say he has improved, I think it has more to do with his weight and quality of opponent.

Of course he looked better in the second toney fight, he was in better shape. If he comes in around 260, Oleg could easily take a decision. Right now I favor Peter 55-45 due to his heart, chin, and youth but Oleg is one tough dude!

Peter has lot's of time to get in shape....even if he's not, I assume he will be in good shape and that wouldn't be a problem.

Good thing Peter has all these people believing he is a hard puncher because his record sure as hell doesn't suggest it. Besides beating up bums he hasn't done anything except beat a shot Toney, and he LOST the first fight and was gifted, then Toney was incredibly super shot in the second fight.

Scam Cheater cannot beat Maskaev. He's probably getting knocked out in the process. He looks completely out of shape.

How about the ability to throw a good straight right hand.:think

For Peter, he could only do that in his wildest dreams, the haymaker throwing fool.

BTW, after his win over Peter...Vitali is next!!!

Peter is a verry thick guy and when hes in clothes he always looks like a fatass but hes rock solid. I guess he weighs 260-270 pounds now, no problem, he can easy loose 20 pounds in training camp. And i will not blame him if he comes in a few pounds higher as in his last fight because this was the longest off time he had in his carreer. Even wehen he comes over 250 he will beat Maskaev. They wanted to fight Maskaev already in April. But because old bull**** Maskaev team they needed so long the make this fight happen.

What if Peter destroys Maskaev and then beats the **** out of Vitali ? It is not that unlikely scenario especially that Vitali had really long retirement.

zakman- the cooney - norton comparison is quite interesting. it could be a short fight, don't believe it's rd one. it will be interesting how maskaev behaves when peter comes right at him and connects.
