Presumably they will continue on the Malta/GBA circuit?

Good point Lee Jones. They're poorly regulated anyway - rarely see anybody defend one. There's a vacant belt up for grabs one week, will be won and then the same belt at the same weight will be fought for a few weeks later.

This could have an impact of some of the smaller shows in the future who need a title for a main event, to lure in those impressed by such things....

Hopefully it will force more area title fights on small hall shows.

Disagree - yes the fact they got all the silly brozne international flip flop titles was silly,

But all in all, when they had 1 belt per weight (2 if u count British and international) then they tended to be a kind of measuring tool for a kid working way through ranks .

Ie - masters , area , national , British etc

& they will of no doubt give the fighters a good bit of confidence , and feeling of self worth on the circuit.

Shame they are going - do agree we see nowhere near as much of the area fights as we should .

Have you seen the BBBofC central area belt ? Now that IS ridiculous, horrible in fact - which is a shame as the northern & southern versions are quite nice, similar style to the English.

Not everyone can be a major champion but at least it gives lower level fighter incentive with a belt on the line, I do see both sides of the argument though

Belts re not sweets that should be given out to all children equally. If you are not of a good championship level, you shouldn't be called a champion. this goes for the british masters titles but also the abc mess at ''world level''.

Personally I think the WBA should be boycotted by fans and the media.

Totally disagree , what your saying there is the equivalent to saying that in other sports, say football - everything should be ditched with the exception of prem league and champs league.

Nonsense , for a lot of fighters - a masters title is the pinnacle of they're careers - sometimes due to natural ability sometimes not.

And let's be honest, as fans - on a small hall show headlined by bloggs vs smith - for the masters title, to is it means little - but to them for all the years sacrificed in the gym etc it can mean a lot, let them have they're moment they're hurting no one.

As for the main titles array of championships yes that needs sorting
Should have a champion , a youth champion & possible a silver belt awarded to the number 1 contender (only upon winning eliminators etc)

You sound like a very sweet man, but you have clearly forgotten what the belts are for and what being a championship means. Its not to make average fighters feel good about themselves.

I am not saying ditch all titles, I see the role of the area, national, euro and world titles. Do we need Masters belts? Celtic belts? Intercontinental Fecarbox Euro-Asia super duper belts?

    Nonsense.

This everyones a winner rubbish needs to stop.
