So we all know that Matchroom have been putting on some poor shows recently, due to mismatches and endless showcase bouts. However I think they do deserve some credit for 3 upcoming cards as to me, they look very good indeed. May 30th Mitchell vs Linares Selby vs Gradovich Brook vs Gavin Joshua vs Johnson Ryder vs Blackwell Cardle vs Evans And more. July 18th Quigg vs Martinez Crolla vs Perez Nurse vs Jenkins Eggington vs Foot And more to be confirmed. Liverpool card (Cant remember the date) Bellew vs TBA (rumour of a world title) Fielding vs Vera Smith vs Rebrasse Plus many many more I may have missed a couple out, I know AJ is on all 3 but didn't mention on 2 as no opponent has been confirmed. All you guys know I rate Hearn and the way he does things, have been called very biased but I am happy to give credit when it is due but also criticised when required, which I have done recently. I feel that he does deserve some credit from some of you who continually criticise him regardless of what he does. Also another good thing for Sky viewers is that the AA vs Stieglitz will be shown in between some of the fights, so I feel all of these shows offer pretty good value for the viewer.
He deserves a lot of stick for recent cards, Brum was actually laughable.. However , I've always maintained he deserves a lot of credit full stop. Let's look at where boxing was, in terms of availability to customers to watch... Hearn has given us a steady rate of shows, a lot with some terrible fights that are pointless. But also a lot that have been *******s He's also managed to get his fighters bigger shots than they'd probably deserved (sometimes they've come unstuck & been found out, but they've had the chance ) as a promoter all he can do is get his man in the ring, he can't actually win himself can he.
If the other two cards are not PPV then fair enough. I have my doubts that the July 18th won't be PPV however.
Agreed, he did say on an IFL TV interview though that the fight would be live on Sky Sports when talking about the card, making me believe that it is a standard show and a pretty damn good one at that. You are right, some shows have been pretty poor but I think, not defending the shows, but he has a pretty young stable so it is tough for him to continually churn out cards with world title after world title fight topping the bill.
Totally agree with the above, however , there are an abundance of domestic fights that can be shown... Which won't break the bank but would sell... Look at Tommy Coyle for example , always manages to flog his tickets. Hearn is too reliant on putting one local one & then piling the undercard deep with his reliable faces - AJ , Campbell, Cal Smith. However , and it's a big however, that will HAVE to change. Because as they are rising through the ranks, they're going to fight less & less. So they won't be fighting Glasgow, Leeds , Newcastle London & so on....
If he adds a world title fight to the 18th then it'll be PPV. I wish purses were made public so we could see what he (and the other promoters) was spending on the cards and compare.

Yes absolutely but there will be that never ending production line coming in to Matchroom. For example the Rio 2016 guys, whichever turn pro, are most likely to go with Matchroom and they will do the AJ, Campbell job whilst they go on to bigger and more meaningful fights, taking Froch, Macklin and other elder guys roles.
Yeh course... Though looking forward, the lads that will come through (Fowler, Bateson & big Frazer) they'll carry on as you say, UK tours and all that.. But, I do see the line slowing drastically, Hearn also has his fair share of fighters who are teetering on retirement , in fact I'd say this time next year his stable will look a lot different. froch , p smith & S Smith ,burns , Macklin will all be retired or deciding Campbell, AJ , cal smith , selby , Mitchell all be on the world scene (fight few & far between) Rose, cardle , eggington ,Warrington, Ryder , yafai all be euro level and fighting as / when Hearn needs.. There's a lot of change in the post for Matchroom
No I disagree with that, there are lots of guys who will turn pro in 2016 but Hearn already has a lot of young guys as it is. Ohara Davies is one, Charlie Edwards another, Froch, P Smith and Macklin will retire, other two will continue a while longer but it is revolving, as soon as one fighter retires and takes his place, then another turns pro and take the other guys place, its just the way it works.
Yeh there's a conveyor belt, but the key thing is people turning over with the right amatuer history - and I only really see Fowler doing so, maybe one or two that we don't know of yet... But the fact is , all the 2012 school have all pretty much found from & progressed maybe even quicker than expected. Look at cal smith for eg, not an Olympian, but already in a world eliminator. Nah I see burns retiring after this year & s smith due to injuries..
I'm just of the impression that yes May 30th is a cracking card, but he could have split the 3 headline fights over 3 other cards and lumped it in with our regular subscription. It seems we get fed a load of **** now and anything resembling a decent fight we've to pay extra for.
