Which fighters really smothered their opponents, fought on the inside with punishing shots, doing anything they can to really rough a fighter up before taking him out? Obviously Jack Dempsey qualifies as the "Manassa Mauler" he swarmed fighters used rough tactics on the inside pushed the fight and really just beat people up before finishing them. Another great example is Rocky Marciano he would bang on your arms, your shoulders anything to rough you up elbows some headbutts bullying fighters to the ropes. Carmen Basilio I believe is another great example just a real rugged fighter who fought in a telephone booth and wore opponents down with his agressive pace and all the punishment he dished out. Recent examples I'd say guerrero vs Berto was a pretty good mauling. Ricky Hatton was definitely a mauler especially in the Kosta Tszyu fight as a prime example. Lamotta vs Robinson how ever I'm looking for [fighters who used it as a style rather than examples of mauling fighters however both are welcome!

Been watching a lot of Jeff Fenech fights and he's up there. Just shoulder-to-shoulder, head-to-head action the whole fight.

Basilio was a better Welter though than Fullmer a middle imo.

Straight up the same size he would have been too strong and too classy with his punches for Gene.
