Was he any good? Can anyone tell me what his style was like and how did he perform against Mark Prince where he was stopped in the 7th. Also did he put up a good effort against Tiozzo in his euro defeat. Hop you can help. Cheers!
Maurice 'Hard' Core was a tall physical fighter, who relied on his strength to bully opponents in the ring. These abilities meant he looked very impressive to certain level, but a below average chin hurt him when trying to get above domestic level. Made his name giving hot prospect Nicky Piper hell in a fun fight, but I remember Boxing News and Monthly suggesting he was badly outclassed by Tiozzo. His final fight against Prince turned out to be the star fight on an awful Benn bill, from what I remember. Prince deserved his victory in the end, and Core did the right thing calling it a day, he had hit his glass ceiling.
