He's a enigma, for sure. Harris is 6'4, with superheavyweight measurements yet he started his career as a light heavyweight. At his lightest weighed against his heaviest weight, he's put on almost a hundred pounds. He's been fighting as a pro since 1992, and yet he's still only 32 years old. One of the least protected and worst managed fighters you'll ever see, yet still managed to steal the 0's of several prospects, including Serguei Lyakhovich and David Izon. He's also beaten good fighters like Jermey Williams and Jimmy Thunder. Supposedly he beat the **** out of a old Larry Holmes in 97', but was robbed of the decision. Anyone have any thoughts/input on Mo'?
My first thought, R, was that you'd hit the nail on the head calling "Mo" Harris an "enigma," but on reflection, I think, sadly, his DNA's his undoing: He just doesn't have the constitution to take the concussion -- A ton a balls, good tools, ring savvy, a helluva right hand, and he looks like a world beater until he's tagged and he crumples like a house a cards.
I agree, his chin is/was extremely shaky. No one would blame him for being KO'ed after the shot he took against Jefferson, but he was knocked out from LH to Heavy, and when he was knocked out usually he was knocked out cold... Him getting iced face down on the canvas by Gerald Nobles kind of cements that.
It is odd how much his career yo-yo'd. I remember it was a minor shocker when he upset Jeremy Williams, how at that time HBO were trying to position as a player in the division.
