I don't necessarily see the controversy behind the scorecards of the Salido-Juanma II rematch going into the what turned out to be the final round...

I thought Lopez landed more in round 1, and won that on my card.
Ditto Round 4. Close round that I gave to JuanMa
Round 5 was 10-8 in favor of Lopez due to the KD.
Round 8 could be called in favor of Lopez because he was moving forward and landing good shots. Salido was landing shots too, of course. But, it's not like he domainated that stanze to the extant where someone HAD to score it in favor of him.

I will grant that the style, tempo and tenor of the fight favored Salido, and that the end of the fight wasn't really that much of a surprise to me as a result. But, neither did the way the fight was scored up until the ending. It was that kinda fight,

    My .02 on this, anyway...

**catches it and slams it back down**

Didn't see the other thread devoted to the scorecard of the fight. That being said, I could see three or four rounds being scored for Lopez, even if the whole dynamic of the fight favored Salido.

I don't know how you can score the 5th 10-8 for Lopez, when Salido was dominating that round up till the last 30 seconds. That's a 10-9 nothing more for JuanMa

Round 1 was a toss up, but other than that, Salido out punched, out landed JuanMa and was the aggressor. People try to get technical, view the fight in a way to justify rounds for their fighter. So yes, you're as crazy and delusional as Juanma was at the end of the fight.

    Bump to take my lumps.

Got a chance to see the fight again, and still scored the 1st, 4th, and 5th for JuanMa. Only called the 5th 10-9, though. Can still see why a judge would score round 8 or 9 in favor of Juan Ma since he was moving forward and initiating exchanges- if not actually outlanding Salido during the exchange. But I didn't score either of those rounds for JuanMa on the second viewing.

So it's 6-3 Salido going into the 10th on my revised scorecard.

Remind me not to post stupid **** on this site in the heat of the moment.

    Sorry.

PS...I didn't actually have a vested interest in this fight. I just wanted to see another war, and got my wish.

Drew is a good guy and can score a match with the best of 'em - he was just a bit off the mark on this one IMO.

Lopez was retching at the taste of those right hands from the word go, and in no round except the knockdown round (in which he got smacked around for two minutes and forty seconds) - and the fourth in which he also had a good late rally, but not enough to steal it - did he ever make a clear argument for landing anything substantially better than the slow and steady Mexican tortoise with that consistent right hand to the head. IMO. He did make arguments in a few rounds, and I can see where that created the impression that they were close - but the arguments just weren't strong enough. If you were paying attention to JuanMa's facial expressions when getting clocked with that right hand over and over, it would register just how damaging and painful the shot was. All night. In every round.
